Research
for a cure for Cancer
Suitable
PCs within our office have joined grid.org
to assist in a cure for cancer. Sponsored by the University of Oxford
and Intel, our computers take a little chuck of data and, using
idle computing time, work on the data and then send it back to the
research team. Its all done in the background with no user
intervention.
By
using over 2 million business and home PCs, years of work can be
achieved in a just a few days. The work produced to date amounts
to over 400 years of processing power, which would be impossible
to undertake with any single computer, no matter how large.
To date we have contributed over 225
days (5,400 hours) of spare computational time to the research.
To see the latest on how much time we have contributed, and perhaps
join the research (and our team?), click here.
