PROJECTS
The " Chalet", Wargrave, Berkshire
To the left of this picture is the house site and, inset, the front elevation

Client:
Private Client

Summary of Project:
The house is built by the river edge and is designed to take full advantage of river views and sunsets, which fall on the main living room at first floor level. There is an external decked veranda on three sides at ground and first floor which permits outside living during the summer months.

The house is a Post and Beam timber framed structure in which the external beams, floors and cladding are expressed in a manner that reflects the style of the Edwardian boathouses found locally.

The building is raised above ground level on concrete piles to protect the house from winter flooding.

Location:
This house is in a rural setting facing on to the River Thames at Wargrave, which is some 8 kilometres downstream from Reading.
