Pentonville Road

Mixed Use Development

Client:

Private Owner

Location:

Pentonville Road, London, N1

Summary of Project:
On a site for a private client, we were appointed to design and seek planning approval for a mixed use 8 storey development which included commercial use on the ground floor, with upper floors a mixture of 30 private market and social apartments plus a penthouse.

We undertook the development of the brief and advanced the preapplication design with the local authority, refining the design to accommodate Highways (Red Route), Transport for London, Lord Mayors office and utility requirements etc.
This was a corner site which formed the eastern end of a formal urban composition with a church as the focus, the western end was already built and the project required a sensitive urban design response. The new building needed to complete the formal composition by providing the eastern end of the composition.
The site had been recorded in 1884 by John O’Connor in the well known oil painting “Pentonville Road Looking West Evening”, the site is in the right hand foreground.
