HPC ENGINEERING

New factory and administration buildings

Burgess Hill, East Sussex.

client

HPC Engineering plc

A new production and administration facility for a company producing precision engineered components for the automotive industry.

The project required a working understanding of production processes and sequences which was achieved through detailed brief development meetings with the client.

The production and administration elements of the design have different architectural characters with the latter expressing the ethos of the company through both its three dimensional form and the engineered silver aluminium cladding of the exterior. The production area contains enclosed environmentally controlled zones to enable dimensionally stable conditions, the roof of the building is supported by a long span, three dimensional space frame achieving minimum obstructions at floor level to accommodate future change in production patterns.

The administration building contains a circular boardroom located above the reception area with access via a helical staircase. There is a link to the production building through the first floor offices.
