MELLOW PURGESS

Housing and Secure Mother & Baby Unit

Basildon, Essex

client

Lovell Partnerships with SWAN Housing Association

We were tasked to redesign an existing planning approved scheme to achieve efficiencies in layout and reduce wasted communal spaces. Our ability to rationalise the design resulted in our client being able to introduce an additional residential unit.

A mixture of 1 and 2 bedroom accommodation, the development was built using timber frame and clad in brick to the local authority's requirement. Sustainable materials and extensive soft landscaping contributed to an EcoHomes Excellent rating.

The redesign of the approved scheme meant that there was a requirement to start on site without any further delay. We rose to this challenge and provided Lovell with a thorough set of technical construction information. Fully co-ordinated drawings, a level of detail which included Bathroom and Kitchen layouts fully scheduled, gave Lovell the confidence in placing sub-contracts early and meeting their client's completion deadline.
